Bring your own Device

A student having their own mobile device, enables them to have access to the Education Department’s online classroom environment, including Connect and other commercial resources.

Following the Department of Education’s guidelines for BYOD, all Applecross SHS students are required to purchase a laptop or surface computer. After extensive parent, community and student consultation during 2019, the computer model or brand will no longer be specified. Students are free to bring any model or brand computer to school with a minimum requirement, as stated in the BYOD Requirements (see below).

Students do not need to purchase MS Office 365 as it is available to school students. However, all students should have a USB storage device (minimum 8 GB) for their files and backup.

Please note: The school does not manage, support or warrant the device. The Applecross SHS Technicians will assist in connecting to the school network but will not be responsible for repairs, support or virus removal.

Only students who have submitted their signed Acceptable Use Agreement upon enrolment will be connected to the school network.

Year 7 students starting the year at Applecross Senior High School will be scheduled to attend the Library during a class period to connect to the school network. Outside of that, students can go to the IT Office in the Library during non-class time (from 7:30 in the morning until the start of Period 1, during recess and lunch or after school until the Library closes) to get connected to the school network.
