Ex-AXSHS Student's Success with Animal Assisted Therapy

Congratulations to Tara Lord, 2016 student, who completed her Certificate III in Disability Support last year whilst at school.

It is wonderful to see Tara has been so successful.

Year 8 River Cruise

The Year 8 River Cruise was well attended by students last night.  All students thoroughly enjoyed themselves, dancing the night away and socialising with friends.  A big thank you to all the staff who attended.

AXSHS Interschool Cross-Country

The Interschool Cross Country competition was held on Friday 19th May 2017.  Applecross SHS were well represented in all age-groups.  It was great to see so many students support their peers and cheer each other on.

Meet Brad Snell - Year 10 Coordinator

Here I am pictured with a young fellow that I go and watch play basketball every Saturday for the school where he is a boarder. I consider him to be sort of my grandson as his dad lived at our house so he could complete school. His dad has a successful tourism business and his mum is a long term employee of a big mining company.  I have been a teacher at eight different schools and I am more convinced than ever that sticking at school and trying your best greatly increases your chances of success in life.

This is my sixth year in total at Applecross Senior High School. I have a very conscientious Year 12 Modern History class this year as well as two Year 9 classes who seem to generally like HASS and more inexplicably like the “Worst Joke Wednesday” ritual each week. I am also the Year 10 Coordinator.

Besides school teaching, my key interests are my family and my keen interest in the fortunes of the Fremantle Dockers and the East Fremantle Sharks. I previously was heavily involved in Local Government in the Pilbara over a period of 14 years where I was involved in five successful and two unsuccessful elections. My wife does relief teaching at a High School in the Northern Suburbs as well as being in charge of our home renovation project. My stepson lives and works in Geoje in South Korea. I was lucky enough to visit him last year where he is working on the construction of the world’s biggest vessel, the FLNG Prelude that will eventually arrive at the Browse Basin off the Western Australian coast.

In the school holidays, I will be taking a group of 26 Year 10 students to Canberra and am still involved in the Mock Trials at the school. Next term I will also be involved as Mr Regan’s assistant for the Year 11 and 12 boys AFL team. Applecross is an excellent school with high standards so staff, families and students should feel privileged to part of this school community.
